Ammo price increase coming

Across the board - Federal, Winchester, Remington, etc., according to a rep from Sports South.

Sales reps say this every couple months. Usually it is bullshiat.

I was at Ga Arms yesterday and they have a bunch of .223 in 500 rd. cans for sale. Some of them are seconds which are 10% off, if any one needs to stock up.

I saw tons of 7.62, but the price is beyond crazy.

.380 still dry as a bone. Price increases already baked in. Just put the stuff on the shelf, people!

Is there a particular reason for the price increase or more fear mongering? Is production indeed slowing while they claim it is increasing? Are shippments behind schedual? Or are they increasing their price to match demand?

I went to the gun show this weekend and actualy picked up some 7.62 at "reasonable" prices. $0.25 a round for brown bear, FMJ's and hollow points. Not the greatest deal, but certainly better than the 10-12 per box I've seen at some of the local shops.

.45 ammo was coming down a bit too. Sub $20 for FMJ's. Still not great, but certainly coming down. The SD JHP's were still in the $1.00+ per round range, with some brands being lower.

One thing I did notice was A LOT of OLLLD boxes of ammo. Like at least a year or two old, many older.

Ammunition has had a steady increase since before the election.

Here is an illustration from Cabela's website. Remington Golden Saber 9mm+P has been out of stock for about a year, but they haven't removed it or changed the projected price. The price listed is from last summer. I have no reason to believe ammunition will go down in price in the future...ever.

Has anyone bought any large (1000's) amounts of .22lr online recently? I'm getting kind of tired of playing hit or miss at WM.

I noticed Centerfire has Wolf Military Classic .223 for $269.99/1000 with free shipping. I don't think that is too bad these days.

Re: Ammo price increase coming

I have so many federal bulk packs of 22lr that I need to add another 22lr firearm of some sort if there is any chance of me ever using all the ammo in my lifetime. This is on top of the 10/22 and 22 conversion kit I have for the AR.

Everytime I went to Wal-Mart in 08 I would pick up a couple of these bulk packs. Worked out alright.
